Vertigo & Dizziness
Vertigo and dizziness are terms often used interchangeably, but they refer to different sensations. Vertigo is a specific type of dizziness where a person feels like they or their surroundings are spinning or moving, even when they're stationary. Dizziness, on the other hand, is a broader term that refers to feeling lightheaded, unbalanced, or faint.
Causes of vertigo and dizziness can vary widely and include issues with the inner ear (such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, or BPPV), vestibular disorders, dehydration, low blood pressure, or even problems with the brain or nervous system. For example, BPPV occurs when small crystals in the inner ear become dislodged, affecting balance. Other causes include migraines, head injuries, or conditions like Meniere’s disease.
Upper cervical chiropractors focus on the top two vertebrae in the neck, which play a critical role in the nervous system and balance control. Misalignments in this area can interfere with signals sent between the brain and the body, contributing to vertigo and dizziness. By realigning the cervical spine, upper cervical chiropractors aim to improve communication between the brain and body, reduce nerve interference, and restore balance, often providing relief from vertigo and dizziness symptoms. Chiropractic adjustments can help reduce the frequency and intensity of these episodes, providing a non-invasive alternative to medication.

“Doctor Sooley and his staff are amazing. I have been seeing them 5 years now. I can't say enough about how much they have helped me. I was having a lot of different issues. After seeing 12 doctors with no results, my new health care provider, who found a problem with my neck sent me here. He said, and I quote "I want you to go see Dr Sooley. He has this little gun looking thing that has helped a lot of people". So I went, and here we are 5 years later and I'm much, much better because of it. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.”
